What is Juvederm® SKINVIVE™?
Juvederm® SKINVIVE™ is a hyaluronic acid (HA) gel-based injectable treatment. This product primarily hydrates the skin, but also, increases collagen production, and improves skin elasticity, giving an overall skin quality boost. SKINVIVE is injected in micro deposits underneath the skins surface hydrating your skin from the inside out. SKINVIVE can be used on various areas of the face and neck, including cheeks, forehead, and full neck. Juvederm® SKINVIVE™ is an effective treatment for all skin types and, with the exception of pregnant or breastfeeding women, is ideal for all adult patients.
SKINVIVE falls into the Dermal Filler classification of cosmetic injectables. Unlike injectable dermal fillers intended to build structure or add volume, with SKINVIVE, there is ‘NO’ structural change to the face. Patients do not need to be concerned about any added fullness to the face or neck with this treatment.
Why should you opt for Juvederm® SKINVIVE™ over a hydrating skincare product?
Unlike skincare products that work on the topical layer of the skin, SKINVIVE works below the skin increasing hydration internally. Because of the high water binding capacity of HA, this injectable product can moisturize your skin beyond that of topical creams and serums. SKINVIVE can last between six to nine months and we recommend patients plan for at least two treatments per calendar year - Fall and Spring. With Volite you can see your skin's dewiness and feel the hydration minutes after you finish your treatment with full results showing in 4-6 weeks. Alternatively, with skincare products it can take up to 12 weeks to start seeing results. You may additionally have to factor in the time to build up your skin's sensitivity to some products that effectively hydrate the skin.

SKINVIVE does much more than hydrate, it also works to improve overall skin quality. HA stimulates your collagen production, increasing your skin's elasticity. What to expect if you decide Juvederm® SKINVIVE™ is the right choice for you?
Once you arrive, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment areas and wait for the numbing to take effect. We will cleanse the face and neck and proceed to draw the grids for evenly spaced injections. The treatment involves a variety of small injections around the designated treatment area. The syringe does not go very deep into the skin as SKINVIVE is infected just below the skin's surface. A patient can expect to feel a mild discomfort but is generally well-tolerated. The injection sites will then be massaged in to eliminate bumps, giving a smooth finish. The massage is particularly important on the neck area. Patients can continue this massage on their own at home if they find they still have some minor bumps needing to be smoothed out.
What are the side effects?
The main side effect is bruising at the injection sites, which can last about a week.
