What is UltraClear®?
UltraClear® is a Cold Ablative Fractional Fiber Laser—a breakthrough in laser resurfacing technology that delivers exceptional results with less discomfort or downtime than comparable technologies. It addresses visible signs of aging such as fine lines, sun damage, uneven texture, and acne scarring, restoring a smoother, brighter, and more youthful complexion. Treatments are fast, comfortable, and safe for more skin tones, including darker Fitzpatrick types, making it one of the most inclusive and advanced resurfacing options available today.
How UltraClear® Works
UltraClear® uses precision-engineered micro-pulses of energy to create controlled channels in the skin—removing damaged cells, stimulating exfoliation, and activating collagen remodeling. What makes it truly unique is its customizable approach, featuring five distinct treatment settings that allow our Doctors and team to tailor the depth and intensity for each patient’s skin type, concern, and comfort level.

This versatility means UltraClear® can be adapted for gentle skin rejuvenation, texture refinement, or more intensive resurfacing to improve the appearance of acne scars and textural irregularities. By combining advanced fiber laser technology with cold ablation, the treatment minimizes thermal damage for faster healing, enhanced safety, and beautifully refined results—across all skin tones.
UltraClear® FAQs
What can UltraClear® treat?
UltraClear® effectively improves a range of skin concerns including fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, enlarged pores, acne scars, and uneven texture. It also helps refine tone, improve overall skin quality, and restore a more radiant complexion. Safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types, it’s suitable for both early prevention and advanced rejuvenation.
What does an UltraClear® treatment feel like?
Most patients describe UltraClear® as a tingling or snapping sensation that is well-tolerated. Numbing cream is used for some treatments, while other treatments are manageable without it. The “cold ablative” technology minimizes heat buildup in the skin, improving comfort while still achieving powerful resurfacing results.
How long does an UltraClear® treatment take?
Treatment time varies depending on the area and depth being treated, but most treatments take under 30 minutes. UltraClear® is an efficient yet powerful enough treatment to deliver visible results after just one treatment. For some skin concerns, a series may be recommended for optimal results.
What is the downtime?
Downtime is minimal and depends on the intensity of your customized treatment.
- Superficial treatments (such as Clear and Clear+) may cause mild redness or warmth for a few hours with mild peeling for a few days post treatment.
- Deeper resurfacing treatments may result in redness, slight swelling, or moderate peeling for up to 1 week post treatment
Most patients resume normal routines within a few days, experiencing smoother, brighter skin as it naturally renews.
How soon will I see results?
You may notice a visible glow and improved texture within several days post-treatment, with collagen stimulation continuing over the following weeks. Results build gradually, improving firmness, tone, and radiance with each session.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments depends on your individual skin goals. Many patients see significant results with a single deeper UltraClear® session, while others may benefit from a series of lighter treatments (typically 3) to maintain and enhance results. Your Dermetics provider will design a personalized plan that aligns with your goals.
Is UltraClear® safe for all skin types?
Yes. UltraClear® is FDA-cleared and designed for safe, effective use across all Fitzpatrick skin types, including darker Fitzpatrick skin types. The laser’s customizable energy settings allow precise control to minimize risk and ensure optimal outcomes for every complexion.
Can UltraClear® help with acne scars?
Absolutely. One of UltraClear®’s standout benefits is its ability to improve scarring and textural irregularities by remodeling collagen and resurfacing the skin in a controlled, uniform way. The depth and intensity can be tailored specifically for scar revision while minimizing overall downtime and discomfort.
How should I prepare for my treatment?
Avoid sun exposure, tanning, or active and exfoliating products for at least one week before treatment. Keep your skin well-hydrated and protected with SPF 30+ daily. During your consultation, your provider will review your skincare routine and adjust any products that should be paused before treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
Post treatment will vary depending on the treatment settings used. Immediately after your session, your skin may appear pink and feel slightly warm—similar to a mild sunburn. This typically resolves within hours to a couple of days, depending on the intensity of your treatment. You’ll be advised to keep your skin moisturized, avoid active ingredients, and protect it from sun exposure as it heals. Gentle exfoliation will naturally occur within a few days, revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath.
When can I return to my regular skincare routine?
You can resume most of your regular skincare after 5-7 days, once any redness or sensitivity has subsided. Your Dermetics provider will guide you on when to reintroduce active ingredients such as retinol or exfoliating acids to ensure optimal healing and long-term results.
